Canton

Subdivision-era housing on the western edge

Canton is a township rather than a city, and one of the largest in the state — a grid of section-line roads filled in with subdivisions from the 1970s onward. The housing is predominantly late-twentieth-century: colonials and ranches in developments like Sunflower Village, Windsor Park, and the Hamlet, with newer construction continuing along the western and southern edges.

Cherry Hill Village is the exception and the one buyers ask about — a traditional-neighborhood development built around the restored Cherry Hill schoolhouse and the Village Theater, with front porches, rear alleys, and a mix of houses, townhomes, and condominiums. School district varies by address across the township, so it is worth confirming street by street before you commit to a house.
