About Woodland Beach
Woodland Beach is one of the Lake Erie shoreline communities north of Monroe, in Frenchtown Charter Township, with 1,899 residents at the 2020 census. It began as a summer-home destination, and the cottages and bungalows that established it are still here, joined over time by year-round houses. Jefferson Schools serves it, as it does the other beach communities along this stretch. The name is the first thing to get straight. Woodland Beach describes both a specific recorded subdivision and a wider area taking in neighboring beach communities, and the two are not the same ground. Which one a listing means decides which association's rules and shared spaces apply, so the governing documents for the actual parcel are worth reading rather than the area's reputation. The housing runs from older cottages through ranches, Cape Cods and split-levels, and size, layout, renovation history and distance to the water vary sharply street to street.
Its residential streets reflect a summer-home history, with older cottages and bungalows joined by later houses and renovations. Lake Erie provides the setting, while the nearby North Dixie Highway corridor connects the area to everyday shopping and services.
