About Dickensons
Dickensons is a Dexter community, in the Dexter Community Schools district and between two Huron-Clinton Metroparks. An 1874 plat map of Dexter Village survives in the University of Michigan's digital collections, and it shows which additions to the village existed by that date and under whose names — the most useful single document for a Dexter name of this kind.
Dexter itself was laid out in 1830, surveyed from the west end of Main and Ann Arbor streets, and became a city only in 2014; the Dexter Community Library and local historical collections hold material no public record does. I can tell you what has actually been selling nearby — just ask.
